In the 1920s, when Budai Kis Pipa restaurant was operating at this address, Buda, 2nd district, Margit körút 14., the marker posts for carriages at both sides of the early classicist gate could be seen, as well as the date of the building carved in it: 1780-1790.
Then, in 1950, Paksi Halászati Szövetkezet (Paksi Fishing Cooperation) established Paksi Halászcsárda, a fish restaurant still famous and remembered among the citizens of Budapest. Everyone knows where 'Paksi' is or rather where it used to be, as it was closed years and years ago after almost 100 years of operation.
The restaurant was reopened on 27 December, 2006, after renovation and expansion, to recreate and reconsider the concept of a boulevard restaurant in Budapest. Menta Terasz is like visiting a distant relative in his extraordinary residence. In the attic there is a bamboo roofgarden, ivy in the back courtyard, hand-rolled quality cigars and hospitality.
